Chaturbate is one of the biggest cam platforms, built on a token economy. Its browser broadcaster is a single plain camera — routing through the external encoder option with free SplitCam unlocks multi-camera scenes, overlays and filters on the same token-based stream.
SplitCam is free live-streaming software for Windows and macOS. Download it and run the installer — no signup, no card, no watermark, no time limit. It is the encoder that sends your video to Chaturbate.
Add your webcam in SplitCam, then layer in a second camera or your phone, overlays and beauty or AI-background filters. Chaturbate's broadcaster shows one flat camera — your composed scene replaces it.
On Chaturbate, click Broadcast Yourself to open the My Broadcast page, then click View RTMP/OBS broadcast information and stream key. Your key is shown as your broadcast token — copy it. It works like a password; never post it publicly.
Open Stream Settings and paste the broadcast token into the custom RTMP key field. Chaturbate has huge headroom — set 1080p at 3,500–6,000 Kbps with a 2-second keyframe.
Press Go Live in SplitCam — your scene reaches the room in about 10 seconds. Chaturbate's low-latency delivery keeps tips and reactions in sync with what you do.
Chaturbate uses your broadcast token in place of a generic stream key. Treat it like a password — reset it if it ever leaks.
Chaturbate's own RTMP ingest accepts up to 4K, 60 fps and a very high bitrate ceiling — quality is limited by your upload, not the platform. Use a 2-second keyframe interval.
Chaturbate delivers your stream over low-latency HLS — roughly 2–4 seconds glass-to-glass — so viewer tips and reactions stay in step with what you do on cam.
Chaturbate accepts very high bitrates, so you'll be pushing a lot of data — a wired Ethernet link keeps that stream stable where Wi-Fi would drop frames.
Chaturbate lets you broadcast before going public — do a short private check of camera, audio and overlays first.
Almost always the bitrate is higher than your upload can sustain. Run SplitCam's built-in speed test, then set the bitrate to about 75% of your measured upload — 3,500–6,000 Kbps for 1080p, lower for 720p. The lag clears once the encoder stops outrunning your connection.
Dropped frames mean packets aren't reaching Chaturbate in time — usually unstable Wi-Fi. Switch to a wired Ethernet connection, close bandwidth-heavy apps, and lower the bitrate a notch. One spike is fine; a steady climb means the connection can't keep up.
Your camera isn't selected as the active source in SplitCam, or another app is holding it. Close Zoom, Skype or OBS, pick your webcam again in SplitCam's source list, and confirm the preview shows your feed before you press Go Live.
Re-copy the stream key — a trailing space or an old, rotated key is the usual cause. Confirm the server URL matches the one Chaturbate shows and that external-encoder broadcasting is enabled on your account. A green slider in SplitCam's Stream Settings confirms a valid key.
Pick SplitCam as both the camera and the microphone, and select your real mic inside SplitCam's audio source. If audio drifts behind the video, lower the resolution one step — the encoder is overloaded and the audio is waiting on late frames.
Yes — Chaturbate officially supports external encoders and has its own "How do I set up OBS?" support article. Activate it with "Use External Encoder to Broadcast" in your broadcast settings.
Broadcast Yourself → My Broadcast → View RTMP/OBS broadcast information and stream key. The key is your broadcast token.
Chaturbate's RTMP ingest accepts up to 3840×2160 (4K) and 60 fps with a 2-second keyframe interval — far more headroom than most cam platforms.
3,500–6,000 Kbps at 1080p is plenty. Chaturbate's ceiling is very high, so your upload speed is the real limit — run SplitCam's speed test first.
Earnings on Chaturbate depend on audience size, hours streamed and tipping behaviour. Active broadcasters typically take home $200–$3,000 per month; top performers reach $10,000+. Your revenue share follows Chaturbate's commission structure — check the model agreement before going live.
Chaturbate requires age and ID verification before payout, which protects models from fraud. Use a stage name, never share personal data on camera, enable geo-blocks to hide your stream from your home region, and treat every viewer request as transactional. SplitCam's overlays and AI background can also hide or replace your real surroundings.
Chaturbate typically requires a government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license or ID card), a selfie holding the ID, and a tax/payout form (W-9 for US, W-8BEN for non-US). Approval usually takes 24–72 hours; once approved you can go live the same day.
Chaturbate usually offers a mobile broadcaster app or a mobile-web broadcaster, but the experience is limited — no overlays, no second camera, no AI background. For full production quality, broadcast from a computer with SplitCam and use your phone as a second camera (SplitCam accepts IP-camera input from phones).
Yes — Chaturbate provides an RTMP server URL and a stream key in the broadcaster panel. Paste both into SplitCam's Stream Settings → Custom RTMP, set 1920×1080 at 30 fps with a 4,000–5,000 Kbps bitrate, and click Go Live. The Custom RTMP route gives you full SplitCam scene composition (multi-camera, overlays, filters).
